Carol Ho’s Tiny Studio
Carol Ho’s works are mostly sourced from fashion magazine pictures, but she has no interest in merely borrowing or transplanting this inexhaustible ready-made visual vocabulary directly. Instead she attempts to dissolve/ remix the symbolic relationships and referents in the originals by smashing and integrating the images, in order to bring forth a disturbing sense of ambiguity. Often strange or uncanny, her works are informed by an awareness of the plurality of contemporary painting. Carol Ho graduated from the University of Calgary and the Royal College of Arts in London with a MFA.
